CPMs and CPCs rise for advertisers on Facebook
Well, as rather big Facebook ad spenders, we’re definitely seeing this ourselves… prices seem to have risen dramatically across the board with no end in sight. The culprit seems to be big brands ready to pay rather frothy CPMs in the name of “brand building” and bidding up the prices for the rest of us. Their ad agencies goading them into that behavior no doubt have reams of flashy PowerPoint slides to back up their arguments, but for ROI-focused performance marketers like us, it’s certainly not good news.
Of course this is all entirely expected – every ad platform out there goes through this transition. Happened for Google, happening for Facebook – with Twitter and Pinterest probably next in line.
