A single Instagram post from Beyoncé apparently brings in a cool $1 million
Not exactly sure how they’re coming up with these numbers but here are some estimates on the Instagram earning powers of various celebrities:
“A single post from Beyoncé brings in a staggering $1 million (about £800,000). Compare this to the most-followed person on Instagram, Selena Gomez, who comes in second place with $750,000 (about £600,000) a post. Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian can bank about $500,000 (about £400,000) a post, while her supermodel sister Kendall Jenner can rake in about $400,000 (about £300,000).“
At some point it seems to us that Zuckerberg & Systrom over at Instagram are really going to want to do more to capture more of the dollars flowing outside of their advertising system with celebrity endorsements.
While on the subject of celebrity endorsements, a pertinent warning about social media endorsements in general and FTC compliance from a Reddit commentor recently comes to mind:
“The wording from the FTC says that the vast majority of viewers must understand that it is a paid endorsement (free product is also considered a paid endorsement).
Putting #ad or #sponsored in your pile of hashtags does NOT meet these requirements. Most people won’t see that and think “This person has been paid a lot of money to hock this product.”
Celebrities are going to have to be VERY transparent right up front about things. They’re going to need to start their post by clarifying that these received the product for free and were paid to post it. Failure to do so will result in legal action as the FTC continues to crack down on this behavior.”
